Holiday Wine Sale with Winestyr

I love wine and I love “flash” sales, so I am really excited to partner with the new, online craft wine distributor, Winestyr (www.Winestyr.com) to give my readers an exclusive discount. Winestyr launched to help those who need a little more help selecting which wines to buy and they focus on smaller-production wineries. You can read more about them on Chicagoist and TechCrunch.

If you’re looking to bring wine to an upcoming holiday get-together, or wish to “gift” a wine-winestyrlover something special, hop on over to www.Winestyr.com.  Now through Dec. 20, 3013, you can enter code BECKY at checkout to get $25 off your order of $50 or more.

If you’re not exactly sure what to get, give their Gift Finder tool a try. You can plug in options for who you plan to buy for, their taste preferences and the amount you wish to spend and get recommendations from their experts.

Some of my suggestions include:

Feel free to share this deal with your friends and networks. Cheers and happy holidays!

Wine Gifts for Any Occasion

The holidays have come and gone, but there are plenty of gift-giving opportunities for wine enthusiasts in the year ahead. I was so amused by all the clever wine gifts and accessories that crossed my path over the past few weeks, I wanted to profile some of my favorites. Consider these little treasures for your upcoming birthday, anniversary, housewarming and “just because” occasions.

Our Favorite Wine Gifts

  • Kelly and Jones Notes of Wine Collection – I can’t tell you how many times I’ve sniffed a newly-poured glass of wine and said aloud, “now this smells like Napa!” As funny as that sounds, I do identify many scents with wine and Napa…a barrel-filled cave, a crisp Sauvignon Blanc, a deep, sultry Cabernet. According to their website, Kelly and Jones’ Notes of Wine Collection is a line of fine fragrance that enhance the nuances of both wine and perfume. Sounds like it blends the best of two worlds to us. The entertaining story of their origin is also worth a read. Sample flights start at $15.00. Continue reading Wine Gifts for Any Occasion

Charity Wine: Drinking for “Good”

Two Organizations Offering Quality Napa Wines with Charitable Benefits

We already know about the health and mood-lifting benefits of a great glass of wine, but adding a philanthropic element makes it even better. While cause-related wine is not a new concept, I met two business owners this past week who are putting their own unique spin on charity wine. As we approach the holidays, I thought it would be fitting to profile these opportunities to drink and buy wine for “good.”

Humanitas Wines

Operating under the mantra “Drink Charitably,” Napa-based Humanitas Wines donates their profits to local branch organizations that benefit three issues: hunger (Feeding America), affordable housing (Habitat for Humanity) and education. Continue reading Charity Wine: Drinking for “Good”

Preparing Your Thanksgiving Day Pours

Holiday and Gift Wine Ideas

With Thanksgiving and the holiday season upon us, it’s time to start thinking about wines to accompany festive meals or give as gifts. I’ve pulled some of the selections from my recent #GiftWinePick posts on Twitter, which include a range of delicious, crowd-pleasing options you can find in most areas. I’ll plan to share more of these ideas throughout the next few weeks.

While you may not be able to locate these specific vintages at your local store, these wineries deliver fairly consistent, high-quality wines each year. Hopefully, you will be just as pleased with their other options. Prices are approximate and based on the listing prices I found in Chicago-area shops.
